Bilingualism

What is it?

François Grosjean defines bilinguals as “Those who use two or more languages (or dialects) in their everyday lives.” Bilingualism is an important part of many people’s lives, and has lots of different ways that it affects people’s lives. It is estimated that over half of the world is bilingual, and that percentage is growing. In the US, about 20 percent of the population is bilingual, and those numbers have grown over the past 40 years.
